Residential Water Treatment

Residential Water Treatment Systems in Orange County

Pro Filtration designs and installs residential water treatment systems for homes throughout Orange County, California.

Instead of starting with a prepackaged system, we evaluate the water, household demand, plumbing, available space, and treatment goals to determine the right filtration, softening, or reverse osmosis configuration for the home.

Water Concerns

Which type of water treatment do you need?

The treatment method depends on what is actually present in the water and what you want the system to accomplish.

Hard Water & Scale Calcium and magnesium hardness.
Water Softener →
Chlorine / Chloramine Treatment Whole-house treatment depends on disinfectant and system design.
Whole-House Filtration →
Drinking Water & Dissolved Solids Membrane treatment for dedicated drinking-water applications.
Reverse Osmosis →
Sediment & Particles Particulate filtration selected around the application.
Sediment Filtration →
Iron Staining Treatment selection depends on iron concentration and water chemistry.
Iron Removal →
Sulfur / Rotten-Egg Odor Aeration may be used depending on the source and water conditions.

System Design

How we design a residential water treatment system.

Equipment selection starts with the application—not with a predetermined package.

01

Evaluate Water

Identify the water conditions and treatment objectives.

02

Evaluate Home

Review household demand, plumbing, drain, power, and installation space.

03

Select Treatment

Choose the appropriate treatment technologies and media.

04

Size Equipment

Match equipment capacity and flow performance to the application.

05

Install & Verify

Install, configure, start up, and verify system operation.

Treatment Configurations

Different systems can solve different problems.

A water softener, whole-house filter, and reverse osmosis system are not interchangeable. When appropriate, they can work together as part of one residential water treatment strategy.

Whole-House Treatment

One example of a multi-stage whole-house treatment configuration. Actual equipment and sequence depend on the property.

Orange County Water Treatment

Residential water treatment for Orange County homes.

Water conditions, household demand, plumbing, and treatment goals can differ from one property to another. We design residential systems around the specific application rather than assuming the same equipment configuration is appropriate for every home.

Water Conditions Treatment starts with understanding the water and the problem the homeowner wants to address.
Household Demand Bathrooms, occupancy, plumbing size, and expected flow help determine equipment sizing.
Installation Conditions Available space, drainage, electrical access, and plumbing configuration are part of the design.
Treatment Goals Filtration, softening, RO, and specialized treatment are selected according to the application.

Residential Water Treatment FAQ

Common questions about home water treatment.

What water treatment system does my home need?
The correct system depends on the water conditions and what you want to improve. Hardness is typically addressed with a water softener, while whole-house filtration can address appropriate filtration objectives such as disinfectant, taste, and odor reduction. Reverse osmosis is commonly used for dedicated drinking-water treatment. Some homes benefit from combining multiple treatment methods.
Do I need both a water softener and a whole-house water filter?
They perform different functions. A conventional ion-exchange water softener removes calcium and magnesium hardness. A whole-house carbon filtration system targets different water quality concerns and does not soften the water. When both treatment objectives are important, the systems can be combined.
Does a whole-house water filter soften hard water?
No. Carbon filtration does not remove the calcium and magnesium responsible for water hardness. Ion-exchange water softening is used when the goal is to remove hardness and produce softened water.
What does a reverse osmosis system do?
Reverse osmosis uses a semipermeable membrane to separate a purified water stream from a concentrate stream. RO is commonly used for drinking and cooking water and can substantially reduce total dissolved solids and many dissolved constituents. Actual performance depends on the membrane, feed-water conditions, and system configuration.
How do you determine the correct water treatment system size?
Sizing depends on the treatment technology. We consider factors such as water conditions, household occupancy, number of bathrooms, plumbing size, expected flow, equipment capacity, and the treatment objective rather than selecting equipment by tank size alone.
Can Pro Filtration evaluate my water before recommending equipment?
Yes. The evaluation can include the home’s water conditions, plumbing configuration, household demand, installation location, and treatment goals so the proposed equipment is selected for the actual application.
